A note from the founder, Alice Haddon

When strife hits, the longing for comfort and guidance is as old as time. Warmth, a fireplace, kindness, and patience are precious commodities in our fast-paced world. 

I’ve certainly felt that, putting myself back together after painful losses, under pressure from myself and others to feel better quicker. And I’ve felt the kind of sorrow and vulnerability that only great care (and preferably a dog) can alleviate.

After three decades working as a psychologist, meeting many different souls along the way, I decided to create a sanctuary which embodies the nurture and care we all need in our darkest hours. In 2021, myself and Ruth Field created The Heartbreak Hotel.

This space was created for you.

What we do

Heartbreak is a profound emotional experience that can deeply affect our mental and physical well-being.  We exist to help you with those feelings of shock, sadness, anger and loss and get you feeling ready for whatever your next chapter is.

Retreats

Our retreats provide a sanctuary where you can disconnect from daily stress and routine and where you can focus entirely on your recovery. The immersive environment allows for intensive self-reflection and emotional release accelerating your journey towards emotional recovery.

Therapy and Coaching

Out psychologists use evidence-based approaches to help heal the emotional and psychological impacts of heartbreak, offering strategies to cope with grief, rebuild self-esteem, and nourish healthy relationship patterns. We also offer coaching which has a focus on future-orientated goals helping you to create actionable plans for moving forward.

Our passionate team of women are central to the mission of The Heartbreak Hotel.

We pride ourselves on being run by experienced professionals, mostly psychologists to be fair, ensuring that you benefit from the very best and most up-to-date psychological know-how.
