Psychologist Sarah in black and white
  • Hi, I’m Sarah

I have always been particularly interested in relationships and the power they possess to transform our lives. I believe that our early relationships with primary care givers provide the blueprint for how we relate to ourselves and others as adults. As we move through life relationships and their endings continue to shape our experience. I also believe in the power that the therapeutic relationship has to illuminate these processes and facilitate change. I work in a collaborative way, appreciating that you are the expert in your life but that, through working together to understand your experience with someone outside of your life, new insights might be discovered.

I have extensive experience working with bereavement and draw on this in my work at The Heartbreak Hotel as I believe there are similarities between going through heartbreak and grieving. When you first experience heartbreak it can feel all-consuming and imagining a time where it won’t feel like this seems impossible. I know that taking that first step to go to therapy can be daunting. My aim is to provide a warm and supportive environment in which you will feel safe to be with your loss and all the feelings that come with it, free from judgement. I also hope to help you to get back in touch with yourself and to feel empowered.

I feel passionate about the importance of human connection and how developing a sense of connection with ourselves, our story, and our values, as well as with each other and the natural world, is central to our wellbeing. I try to foster connections with these elements as much as I can in my own life, and to bring this to others as much as possible.

I have over 6 years of experience working in mental health settings, including the NHS and charity settings. Most of my work has been longer-term but I also have experience in time-limited therapy. I am a registered member of the BACP and have completed all professional and academic components of my Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology. I work in an integrative way which means that I draw on different approaches and tailor my sessions to the specific needs of each client.

  • Hi, I’m Ria – here’s a little about me

I am a qualified and practicing psychologist, currently based in London (England) but call Mumbai (India) my home.

Having completed a long educational journey with a BSc(hons) in Psychology, MSc in Applied Clinical Psychology, and Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology, my learnings continue within the professional world with experience working at the NHS, private practice, and mental health charities. Over the years, I have gathered specialist expertise working with eating disorders, women’s health, and loss and bereavement.

I hold a strong desire to create space for women to share their voices, to feel seen and to be heard. At HBH, alongside my professional knowledge, I draw from my personal journey with loss, heartbreak, and bereavement to inspire warmth, authenticity, and connection within the therapeutic relationship we develop together.

Starting therapy can be a daunting experience. When we meet we can get to get to know each other. You can consider whether I am the right fit for you, and we can explore your goals and motivations for therapy, creating a collaborative plan for our possible work together. With lots of space for any and all questions you may have!

Outside of psychology, I find rejuvenation through dance, love a good romance book, find writing helps me unwind, and have recently taken up running (though I'm not sure how I feel about it yet). Plus, dogs (and coffee) make me happy.

I look forward to getting to know you, and being part of your journey.
